OLD TOWN 2010
These paintings are on view on the second floor of Alexandria's City Hall as part of the Alexandria Commission for the Arts "Art in Public Spaces" program. they will be on exhibit from February through July, 2011.
Historic Alexandria VA was blanketed in snow in mid-December 2009 and then buried in snow in Jan and Feb 2010 and I couldn't resist the urge to capture the beauty of these restaurants and federal style houses on canvas. The first few snow paintings were so much fun to paint that I had to continue on to a few non-winter scenes of the small town just outside of DC where I live and work.
I've interpreted some of my favorite spots....they might be your favorites too, like Landini Brothers Italian restaurant or the Majestic, known for it's old-fashioned cocktails.
I have a set of notecards of these paintings available for purchase. 8 notecards for $10 or 2 of each image (16 notecards) for $20.
